Description of the side event (no more than 100 words): The event aims to discuss the risks that artificial intelligence technologies applied in public security pose to the rights of Afro-descendant populations globally. Despite research and concrete cases proving that these technologies have a racial bias leading to errors, resulting in the unjust and disproportionate criminalization of Afro-descendant people, they are being increasingly used without regulations based on international human rights standards. Considering that one of the discussion topics of the Forum is artificial intelligence and digital justice for Afro-descendant people, we seek to engage with speakers from different countries to discuss possible solutions for mitigating risks and violations.
