Mutale Nkonde
Mutale Nkonde is a researcher, policy advisor, media commentator and CEO of AI for the People. A non profit that advocates for responsible approaches to AI development. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Digital Humanities at the University of Cambridge, where her research focuses on how Black people can build resiliency around online mis and disinformation. Her interest in AI and race stems from her advocacy to the US government for the regulation of AI. Starting in 2017 where she was chief advocate for the Algorithmic Accountability Act introduced to the US House of Representatives in 2019, and ending with consultations with the White House during the Biden/Harris Administration. And she has been a member of Tik Tok's US Content Moderation Advisory Council since 2020.
