Roderick Brereton, founder of Urban Rez Solutions, is dedicated to driving transformative social change. He has over two decades of expertise in creating and directing social education programming, conducting professional training, developing culturally relevant corrections programming, and building social capacity. In Roderick's role he partners with all levels of government, community and corporations to lead initiatives, manage projects, and offer viable solutions to multifaceted social issues. His ability to address the complexities of multiple sectors sets him apart from others.
Roderick utilizes a comprehensive holistic model based on empowerment and
resiliency.
Currently Roderick leads his team to deliver in custody and community reintegration support to justice impacted individuals. The program prepares persons in custody for successful re-entry into the community by equipping them with essential skills (positive cultural identity, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, employment readiness and financial literacy). The program also features post-custody life stabilization, workforce development and entrepreneurship training, to support people transitioning back to
community.
With a degree in sociology from York University and specialized training in conflict management, change management, emotional emancipation, and mental wellness, Roderick has a solid educational foundation.
Roderick is a renowned event host. He has served as the master of ceremonies at several high-profile events including the Harry Jerome Awards, Harbourfront’s ‘Island Soul’, the Building Diversity Awards and the Community Healing Network Awards.
Roderick is a highly sought-after speaker, trainer, engagement specialist and
innovative social strategist.
Roderick has written and produced urban music since the 1980’s. As a member of a Juno award winning music production team, Roderick incorporates entertainment to his professional endeavours to keep learning interactive and engaging. He intentionally creates safe spaces conducive for seamless knowledge transfer.
